Ruffled edge flower vase

Created in clay using a pencil rolled across the petals

to create the ruffles!

I started with a basic shape and then began embellishing all along the top.

A little feminine creative fun with clay!

Romantic gifts

Thank you to Meryl and Jacqueline at Romantic Homes Magazine for asking me to share the creativity with their readers in their Valentine's issue!

Create truly unique and romantic gifts with this simple clay project.
Whether it is for your Valentine or a special gift, or just because...
These small treasures are sure to please and super easy to make
using clay and simple tools found about the house.

Rolled out clay and a few supplies are all it takes to create one of a kind gifts.
Use your decorated pieces as an ornament to attach to a gift card
or enclose with a letter or use as gift tags.
Or attach a ribbon and hang it on your loved ones door.

What you'll need:

Clay
Paint sticks
Rolling pin
Scissors or knife
Paint or glaze
Brushes
Lace (optional)
Stamps (optional)
Ribbon (optional)

Instructions

Roll out clay ⅛ th of an inch thick
Cut into desired shapes
Fire or bake according to manufacturers instructions
Decorate with color
Add embellishments

Tips

Roll your clay between 2 paint sticks to make it even
Use varying size straws to cut holes for a lacy look
Roll lace over clay for a fun texture
Use your decorative scissors for unusual cut edges
Cookie cutters are great for cutting shapes
A dull pencil works beautifully for drawing borders or writing
Stamps are great fun to use with this project, pressing them into the clay for the impression
Attach ribbons or weave in and out through the holes

I see endless possibilities...

You are LoVed

Here is the latest project I am working on,

a pillow shaped ceramic vase I made and glazed on the inside.

After painting the background I began decoupaging with paper and lace,

paint and marking pens.

It is not quite finished yet,

I am looking for small alphabet stamps to add along the ankle line

"you are loved" in walnut colored ink.

This is created for a sweet little girl in the hospital battling cancer.

{ Please keep her in your prayers }

( even better, I found a press on alphabet in chocolate by Fiskars! )

Homage to and inspiration from Julie Nutting's wonderful book!

High heels and pink roses

..

Really, what girl could resist this color?

These shoes are so pink, so princess, so pinkalicious!

Maybe it was the little girl in me who likes to play dress up

that called my attention to them

while perusing the vintage clothing shop

with my best friend.

I love high heels and found them irresistible.

A remnant of rosette trim in the matching shade of pink
was found to be the perfect embellishment.
A simple pearl was sewn into the center of each rosette
and then the rose trim glued into place.
These shoes are ready to be worn by a princess.

...just girly silliness playing with pink!

A little pink post...

work has been crazy busy
( Thank you God ! )
flying out of town to meet with clients
creating new sets of blueprints
overseeing some major remodeling jobs

It is so nice to be home for the day
and visit the garden
discovering new lovelies blossoming and calling out for attention

snipping and bringing in a few pink pretties
to grace the indoors of the cottage and inspire...

so here is a little pink post

( with Valentines just around the corner, and because I have always preferred pink to red )

.

with a few of my ceramic creations mixed in for fun

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

And a big thank you to my pilot, Mike B.
for saving me hours of driving time
so I can have today off to play !

Cashmere sweater weather

It was pretty, pink and a favorite that I inadvertently shrunk.

Fortunately the new size of the sweater was a perfect fit for my adorable

7 year old neighbor who was thrilled with the cozy pink acquisition.

When she out grew it she returned it for me to create a warm wrap

for her tiny tea cup chihuahua,

cutting off one sleeve and adding a little soft pink netting

for a girlie collar ...too cute!

There was still plenty left, that came in handy,

for creating sea shell ceramic pin cushions,

and later a hand painted and beaded flower pin.

Re purposing is good!
